1. Who we are

VoilAI ("we", "our", or "us") operates the VoilAI platform, an AI-powered explainer video generator available at this website. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our service, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

2. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address and, optionally, a display name you provide in Settings.

Usage and conversation data

We store the prompts you submit and the AI-generated content (scenes, narration scripts, follow-up suggestions) produced in response. Conversation history is kept so you can revisit past sessions.

Audio files

Narration audio generated from your prompts is cached in our cloud storage. Audio files are keyed by a hash of their text content and narrator selection — they do not contain any directly identifying information.

Payment information

All payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers or sensitive payment details. We do store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status so we can manage your plan and credits.

Technical data

We may collect standard web server logs (IP address, browser user-agent, pages visited, timestamps) for security, abuse prevention, and debugging purposes.

3. How we use your information

To provide, operate, and improve the VoilAI service.
To authenticate your account and enforce plan limits.
To process payments and manage subscriptions through Stripe.
To generate AI content and narration audio on your behalf.
To respond to support requests or abuse reports.
To send transactional emails (e.g. account confirmations, payment receipts) — we do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.

4. Third-party services

We share your data with the following processors only to the extent necessary to operate the service:

Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage.
Google Cloud — text-to-speech synthesis (your narration scripts are sent to Google TTS APIs).
OpenAI / Google / Anthropic — AI content generation (your prompts are sent to these APIs to produce video scripts). Which provider is used depends on your selected AI model.
Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
Pexels — royalty-free media used in generated videos.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties or share it for advertising purposes.

5. Data retention

We retain your account information and conversation history for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us (see Section 9), after which we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance (e.g. payment records, which are kept for up to 7 years).

6. Cookies and local storage

We use essential cookies and browser local storage to maintain your authenticated session and preferences. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising pixels.

7. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures — including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and row-level security on our database — to protect your data. No system is completely secure; please use a strong, unique password for your account.

8. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 9. We will respond within 30 days.
